Hi there,

I’m Jane as you might have guessed it by now. I have always been fascinated with the BIG World Wide Web and how people can earn a living online. I made my first dollar online about 16 years ago when the Hello Kitty dolls craze hit Singapore. As a high school student back then, I was amazed at the possible income potential of the Internet. Since then, I have explored and on-and-off tried various money making opportunities on the Internet as a hobby. Some worked and some worked for the owners only.

Currently, I’m working in a local company in Singapore but aiming to earn a second income online that is passive, sustainable and SCAM-FREE. (I’m sorry I can’t post a mugshot of myself. It’s rather sensitive and taboo-ish to do so for this company and for my position.) Singapore like any other developing country faces inflation. Although having one of the highest GDP (& just ranked as the most expensive city in the world!!), the average pay has not been increasing sufficiently to cover inflation. Hence, I’m looking at other means to improve my income. Also, I have a dream, a childhood dream. I’ve always wanted to volunteer and teach in orphanages and schools in the poorer regions of developing countries. With my current income and the need to support my family, this can only remain a dream. I don’t want to live with regrets and I want to do something about it.

With these thoughts during this period of searching, I remembered the potential of the Internet and decided to take ‘making an income online’ seriously. Due to the high accessibility to the Internet, I can actually work on the Internet anywhere, anytime. How cool is that?! This search brought me to the highs and lows in this personal journey. For a start, I took an Internet Marketing course with a super affiliate (~$2000 USD course), bought WSOs from Warrior Forum and even niche sites.

The super affiliate methods were spammy and personally I hate spam. I could not bring myself to spam others with that kind of “value” he was advocating. He was constantly upselling and downselling to my course mates and I. He was selling solo ads to my course mates $3,500 USD. Some of my classmates bought and made money of course but I have no idea if they have recouped from all the solo ads bought. The last straw was asking us to join in his 1 year mastermind group for $10,000 USD! On to WSOs, most promised the sky and gave a lot of theory and I had no idea what to do next after reading the ebooks. Other stuff I tried promised riches or guaranteed an income but ended up being scams and trash. I was upset. I was on the verge of giving up until I found THE ONE. =)

I found Wealthy Affiliate. At first I was skeptical but as I went through the lessons, I found my mindset changing and I was making headway in Internet Marketing. Finally I could learn how to earn a second income online without fear of being scammed. I found my solution to building a sustainable and scam-free Internet income, even better still, my own Internet Business.

A Change of Mindset

When I first started out searching, I had this mindset of “I want money making solutions” and unfortunately fell into “honest” programmes along the way that seemed to teach how to make money online but ended up… well, as scams. After joining Wealthy Affiliate, I realised that my mindset needed to change. If my focus is solely on “making money online fast”, I will always be a sucker for “shiny objects” that promises success if I sign up for their programmes. Not that it’s wrong but I will end up wasting a lot of time and money hopping from 1 programme to the next.

Now, I want to build a passive, sustainable and SCAM-FREE business online. From the beginning, I was willing to put in the effort and time to make things work and even more so now. Today, I have a direction. I’m a business owner and I am working hard towards growing my business without the fear of being scammed. I know that my hard work will pay off in the long run and I’m having so much fun doing so (with an awesome community to walk with me along this journey).

Why Income Jane?

There are 3 main reasons why I started Income Jane.

1) Backtracking a little, do you remember my course mates from the super affiliate course? Recently a course mate bragged shared about a couple of sales he made. He made $197 in affiliate commission for each “make money online” product he sold. A couple of people bought it and I was crushed. The product was a scam and the methods no longer worked. This is just 1 of the instances I have seen in the “make money online” scene. I hate to see good folks out there getting scammed. If only I can warn them…

2) While I was during my research online, I realised that there are so many scams out there and some reviews are mocked up ones. How can good people out there do proper research and make good decisions if all they get access to are fakes?

3) I want to share what I’ve learnt while building up my business websites and the good opportunities I’ve found.

Hence, Income Jane. I hope to develop Income Jane to be a place where you can find good information on website/business building, honest income opportunities and legit reviews of programmes out in the market.

A great post!!! Hopefully we can build more awareness of internet guru so call ” get rich quick scheme’ very much like MLM marketing….

    • Jane says:

Thanks Justin! I dislike those “great rich quick” schemes too. I dare say that 90% or more are scams and only the creators and those who get in early will earn. Do you have any experience with any of those schemes?

Jane – I love reading your about me page. I think it is SO true that people are brainwashed about internet marketing and think that this is a get rich scheme. There is not quick buck and people need to know that it takes hard work. But, it is worth it.

Great website and content. Keep up the good work.

      Hey Joan

Thank you for stopping by! I guess it is human nature that we like shortcuts and stuff fast but Internet Marketing is not a get quick rich scheme. It is more like a baby who needs to be nurtured. Once it’s mature, the fruits of your labour will come in. It is a mental barrier that people must cross and think of Internet Marketing as a business.
